Let’s talk convenience…
With online therapy, you don’t have to leave your home or office to have a session. This means you save money on gas, and you won’t have to waste time driving to and from your appointment.
You can have your session wherever you feel most comfortable, whether that’s in your car, home, office – or even while you’re out of town. As long as you have a stable nternet connection, camera, microphone, and a place where you can be alone, you can have your session from almost anywhere you feel comfortable.
It’s as effective as in-person therapy.
You’ll get the same benefits as traditional, in-person therapy. Even though it’s on a screen, we’re still meeting face-to-face. You’ll receive the same level of support, input, attention, and confidentiality that you would receive if we were meeting in my office.
I have provided both in-person and online therapy for many clients over the years. They’ve all received the same level of attention and personalized care, regardless of whether we met in my office or online. You can rest assured that the same will be true for you.
As with in-person therapy, it’s all confidential.
Our sessions will be encrypted, and all your data will be maintained in compliance with HIPAA rules and regulations for online therapy. I will do everything on my end to keep our sessions secure and confidential.
However, we both play a role in maintaining your privacy. I can control my environment and ensure our online sessions are secure. Still, it will be important for you to guard your privacy by choosing a time and location to be alone and uninterrupted.
Reducing obstacles…
Some clients are very open about their decision to get counseling, while others view it as a private, individual matter. Maybe you want to get help, but the thought of explaining why you have to leave work or why you will be home late just isn’t worth all the questions and explanations that might come up in your everyday life.
Or maybe you deal with depression or anxiety. Taking steps to schedule an appointment, drive to an unfamiliar location, and meet with a new counselor seem overwhelming.
With online therapy, these obstacles are significantly reduced. Of course, you still have to decide to get help and schedule the initial appointment. But you can remain in your familiar surroundings, worry less about others knowing and asking questions, and feel more in control of the process. And when life feels like it is falling apart around you, having control over those things can make a big difference.
Here’s how it works…
After you schedule your initial evaluation, you will receive a session confirmation, along with a link for our session. You will click on the link at our session time and wait in the virtual waiting room for me to initiate the session. You will also have my phone number to text or call if you experience any difficulty joining the session. It’s that easy.
We can communicate by video, phone, or messaging –
But video sessions seem to be the most popular option for online therapy – probably because they allow for face-to-face contact.
But others find it easier to be transparent by phone or through writing (messaging). No matter how we choose to communicate, we will make sure it works to your benefit.
Your initial evaluation will be done by video to establish a good connection and lay the foundation for future sessions. As we advance, we may have all your sessions by video, or we may decide to alternate between video, phone, and messaging. Together, we will determine the best online therapy mode to ensure you get the most out of your sessions.
Are you ready to give it a try?
You should – even if you’re a little hesitant.
You may be pleasantly surprised at how well it works for you!
